There is no specific cure for Hepatitis A, as it is a infection that resolves on its own.
The treatment focusses on managing symptoms, supporting recovery and preventing complications.
The treatment involves
- Supportive Care: take enough rest, stay hydrated and be aware of your nutrition
- Medications Medicine like paracetamol can be used and Nausea management medicine.
- Avoiding liver strain
like alcohol and certain medications
- Prevent the spread Through Hygiene and Vaccinations.
- Monitoring for complications regular follow ups are important to monitor liver function

Prevention To protect yourself from the hepatitis A virus, the most effective method is vaccination. Vaccines such as Havrix, Vaqta, or the combination vaccine Twinrix (which also protects against hepatitis B) are highly effective in preventing the disease. Vaccination is strongly recommended for individuals with chronic liver disease and those traveling to areas where hepatitis A is common.
For those who cannot or choose not to get vaccinated, prevention can also be achieved by practicing good hygiene. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating and after using the bathroom. Ensure food and water safety by eating only thoroughly cooked food, avoiding raw or undercooked meat and shellfish, and washing fruits and vegetables carefully before consuming them. Drink only safe water, such as bottled or boiled water.
By following these precautions, you can significantly reduce your risk of contracting hepatitis A.
